Every Business Has an Unsung Hero

Every business that exists has an unsung hero. The employee that gets the work done without being told, who is at work on time and ready to do their best. Unfortunately, many managers and supervisors, in the quest to motivate the staffers that may need motivation, forget those who are really holding down the fort.

If a supervisor calls out an employee for doing a great job, why not praise the entire team? If all tasks are getting done while said employee is getting praises, shouldn’t the entire team get credit?

The Six Sigma methodology encourages an all-inclusive atmosphere. Everyone is important in the processes that are involved in running a company.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Many years ago, there was an older couple that had been married for 50 years. The wife was a quiet lady, who loved to cook, and also worked at a temple to help make ends meet. The husband was always cracking jokes and laughing, and was always the life of the party, even though he battled a slew of health problems.

Then one day, the husband died. That’s when the most heartfelt eulogy was given, written by one of their daughters. It was a eulogy, but she was also paying homage to her mother. She described them as a team. She felt the reason her dad could be the life of the party was because her mom had always held down the fort. She felt her dad could be so special because her mom made it possible.

The unsung hero is the real hero. The employee who quietly does the day-to-day processes that add value to your company also deserves some praise because they are the core of your business.
