Learn more about Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies.
White Belt provides an overview of Lean and Six Sigma methods, how to identify project opportunities, and develop a project charter. The primary focus is to identify improvement opportunities and gain a foundational understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles. We’ll also provide an overview of Lean Six Sigma deployment methods.
Yellow Belt builds upon White Belt by introducing team-based concepts applied in Lean Six Sigma projects. Candidates will have a working knowledge of process maps, prioritization matrices such as Cause and Effect Matrix and Failure Mode Effects Analysis, and how to identify common wastes in processes. By mastering these tools, Yellow Belts can effectively support Green and Black Belts in executing their projects, contributing to process improvements and team success.
Green Belt BootCamp training covers the basics of how to scope a project, map out the processes, prioritize what it needs to focus on, and understand baseline metrics, hence the name “Green Belt BootCamp”. Candidates have the option to continue with week 2 of Green Belt training at a later date to achieve the project-based certification.
Green Belt training and certification is the first level for Lean Six Sigma project leaders, building upon the White & Yellow Belt. Focusing on concepts used in the DMAIC roadmap (Define – Measure – Analyze – Improve – Control), Green Belts use statistical methods, and visual graphs from processes to analyze and identify possible sources of variation. With this information, they develop solutions to a problem and find ways to sustain those improvements over time.
Black Belt training and certification is for project leaders dealing with complex processes that benefit from advanced analytical methods for optimization. Expanding upon Green Belt knowledge, concepts will be covered at a deeper level including but not limited to Measurement Systems Analysis, Capability, Regression, and various forms of Design of Experiments (DOEs).
Master Black Belt training and certification is for organizational leaders who will be tasked with deploying, training, and mentoring “belts”. Gain advanced Six Sigma analytical knowledge and a thorough understanding of statistical methods. The final step in the Six Sigma journey is designed for experienced professionals who aspire to become Lean Six Sigma leaders within their organization. Master Black Belt is for individuals with experience in implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies, equipping them with the expertise to drive strategic improvements at an enterprise level.
Lean Six Sigma is a process improvement methodology that combines:
Lean – Eliminates waste and streamlines processes for efficiency.
Six Sigma – Reduces variation and defects to improve quality.
Core Principles:
Customer Focus – Prioritizing customer needs.
Waste Elimination – Removing inefficiencies and unnecessary steps.
Variation Reduction – Using data to enhance consistency.
Continuous Improvement – Ongoing evaluation and refinement.
The DMAIC Cycle:
Define – Identify the problem and goals.
Measure – Collect data on current performance.
Analyze – Find root causes of issues.
Improve – Implement targeted solutions.
Control – Maintain improvements over time.
Key Benefits:
Lean Six Sigma optimizes processes, reduces waste, and drives sustainable success.
A Lean Six Sigma project for certification is significant for both individuals and organizations for several reasons:
For Organizations:
For Individuals:
A Lean Six Sigma project for certification is a significant undertaking that offers numerous benefits for both individuals and organizations. It provides individuals with valuable skills, enhances career prospects, and increases earning potential. For organizations, it leads to process improvements, data-driven decision-making, and increased customer satisfaction.
6Sigma.us is proud to offer CEUs, PDUs, and PDCs for our training programs. We are accredited by IACET to offer CEUs and SHRM to offer PDCs for the successful completion of all training requirements.
Below is a list of all our Lean and Six Sigma Training and Certification programs.
Intermediate Project Leader: Green Belt
Advanced Level Project Leader: Black Belt
The Lean Six Sigma certification cost varies by level and format, with options to suit different budgets and learning preferences.
These additional learning opportunities will strengthen your quality management skills and provide valuable cross-functional knowledge.
These courses offer perfect synergy with your Lean Six Sigma training. Below are specialized programs to accelerate your skill growth and enhance your problem-solving capabilities.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is a structured team-based approach used to quickly discover the reasons problems occur and develop a sustainable solution to avoid recurrence that can be applied to all businesses and industries. Use RCA methods whenever problems require immediate attention such as safety incidences, dissatisfied customers, product field failure, unscheduled downtime, or any situation where excessive delays are very costly. The 8D team-based approach is used as the roadmap for all the topics covered.
Lean Fundamentals introduces methods to improve process efficiency by focusing on what adds value to the customer, providing methods to recognize waste in processes, identify barriers to flow, and implement pull in your current processes.
Individuals who complete this program also have the option to complete a Lean project for their Lean Agent Certification.
Lean Master is the final step in our Lean training program and provides you with a thorough working knowledge of the principles of Lean. Taking a deeper dive into the concepts learned in Lean Fundamentals; candidates will learn to apply advanced continuous improvement techniques, differentiate between types of Pull Systems, apply Change Management, and how to successfully facilitate Kaizen Events. The Lean Master program enables candidates to create a strong culture within their organization that follows the Five Principles of Lean.
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a structured methodology for new product and process development that emphasizes defect prevention and robust design. It incorporates customer needs and requirements, employs a systems engineering perspective, and utilizes statistical methods and data analysis to optimize designs and minimize variability.
At 6Sigma.us we emphasize the quality of our instructors. All credible consulting companies teach similar Lean and Six Sigma methods and tools. The major difference between training programs is the instructors’ experience and ability to relate that knowledge to real-world situations.
Our instructors and mentors learned how to use Lean Six Sigma by leading projects themselves while working their way up to leaders in their organizations. As Master Black Belts they integrate this wealth of real-world experience into all our training programs.
To achieve our certifications you must demonstrate an ability to apply the techniques covered in the training. While passing an exam illustrates your ability to retain information, applying those concepts in a real-world scenario proves you have the skills required to lead successful projects.
Our Lean Six Sigma training involves face-to-face courses in an interactive format with hands-on coursework. You learn by doing and working with a team to solve problems. Our certification programs include access to instructors after the training to help you complete the practical application requirement for the certification.
Six Sigma certification is a methodology-based credential that validates expertise in process improvement using statistical analysis rather than guesswork. It follows a structured progression from White Belt (entry-level) through Yellow, Green, Black, and Master Black Belt levels.
The duration varies by certification level:
– White Belt: About 4 hours with 30 days of access (online) or 1 day (virtual/in-person)
– Yellow Belt: About 6 hours with 90 days of access (online) or 2.5 days (virtual/in-person)
– Green Belt: About 30 hours with 1 year of access (online) or 2 weeks (virtual/in-person)
– Black Belt: About 40 hours with 1 year of access (online), 2 weeks (virtual), 4.5 days (in-person)
– Master Black Belt: 2 weeks (virtual/in-person)
The complexity of skills required suggests increasing difficulty at higher levels. Higher levels like Black Belt require a deep understanding of statistical tools and complex analytical skills.
While a degree is not typically required for Lean Six Sigma certification, having one can be beneficial for career advancement. The key requirements for Lean Six Sigma certification focus on:
– Understanding of Lean Six Sigma methodologies
– Completion of required training hours
– Applying concepts to a live process improvement project (for higher belt levels)
Costs vary by level:
– White Belt: $99-$499
– Yellow Belt: $199-$1,498
– Green Belt: $695-$4,923
– Black Belt: $995-$4,000
– Master Black Belt: $4,975
