4. Process Modeling
4.5. Use and Interpretation of Process Models

4.5.1.

What types of predictions can I make using the model?

Detailed Information on Prediction This section details some of the different types of predictions that can be made using the various process models whose development is discussed in Section 4.1 through Section 4.4. Computatational formulas or algorithms are given for each different type of prediction along with simulation examples showing its probabilisitic interpretation. An introduction to the different types of predictions can be found in Section 4.1.3.1. A brief description of prediction versus the other uses of process models is given in Section 4.1.3.
Different Types of Predictions
  1. How do I predict the average response for a particular set of predictor variable values?
  2. How can I estimate the value and uncertainty of a single observable response?
